OK, guys n gals. Here is the white oak molle I have been working on for the last month or so. It is 66" t2t and 64" n2n, 55# @ 27". It is 2" wide at the handle fade and 1.5" wide at the lever fade. I got the idea of white oak as a material from Howard, the rawhide from Adam (ADB), the rat snake skins from Cipriano, and the wood from my local lumber yard. Thanks to Half Eye, too, for his advice during the process. I used TB3 to glue on the rawhide and an off-brand unflavored gelatin as the hide glue for the skins. I used Fiebings leather dye for the bow and limbs. They were out of light brown so I tried British Tan which turned out orange. (cheap osage) ::) . I used black on the levers. I used zebra wood tip overlays and then decided to cover them up with the black. Real smart, I know. I used a golf tee for the rest and suede leather for the grip with goat laces. I wrapped the color transitions at the levers with gold dacron B-50. I haven't served the string yet and not sure if i am going to put a strike plate on there. She's pretty quiet as is. I was canting the bow when my wife took the full draw pic so it looks out of tiller. I tried to get her to take another so I could straighten the bow up and suck my gut in, but she was busy. I added a tiller tree view, though. All pics below. I hope you like it. I sure do.

Good bend ,great color Combination... Very nice ;)

Thanks again, fellas. She really zips an arrow. I know I could have reduced the levers a little more, but there is really no hand shock. Just a little thump at release. My son came home for a visit yesterday. He shoots a recurve and asked if he could shoot it. I don't know what he was expecting, but he got a big ole grin on his face when he shot it. I don't know if his surprise was that the bow shot so smooth or that his dad could actually make one.

Man Kenny, That is just about too sweet. The finish is great, the color is great, it's just one fine bow sir !!!!! the part that I REALLY like is full draw and brace profile.....that's perfection sir 8)

That'll thump an arrow.Nice finish job on it too.

Very nice! Looks really sharp.

Fine looking bow. I'm going to try that design with an elm stave I cut. The only other that I tried failed. Tiller stage has been my nemesis.
-
Very nicely done! I'm glad the rawhide worked out for you. You've hit the tiller bullseye!
Adam.

Good stuff man. I like the way you use the string wrap at the beggining of the lever. Almost looks like a bow with siyahs without the recurves. Nice job on the tiller to. Howd you like that white oak?
-
Good looking bow like the snake skin.

I like the white oak fine. Howard (hrhodes) was braggin on some white oak staves he had heat treated with some success so, since my lumber mill was out of any good hard maple, I checked the white oak stack and found a good flat-sawn board that looked almost like a center piece with really straight grain on either side of the pith. It was really heavy and seemed quite dense. Even with the straight grain, I added rawhide protection since I was going to skin it. I also slightly heat treated the belly. I was kinda sloppy when staining the wood at the levers which is why the wraps are so wide. I should have used tape.

Awesome!

Thanks again guys. I shot her today and shot one of the nocks off one of the other arrows splitting about 4 inches of the shaft. She is definitely a sweet shooter. I still haven't been able to take her hunting, yet, though. It's been too hot. Maybe soon??
