This past Saturday was my stone age event at my club in Deerfield, MA. We had archery, atlatl and dart, fire making, flint knapping, bolas, and slinging, cave art, with a few non-stone age stuff like catapults and crossbows tossed in for good measure. About 250 or so people attended over the course of the day. This is an event I work on all year long, and it is a huge amount of work, but so much fun. We keep the event free minus food, and have lots of instructors and monitors on hand to teach and keep things safe. As with past years, tons of kids came with their parents, including home schooled children. All equipment was provided.
Next year, I want to ramp it up, and possibly add stone ciricle building, as well as more workshops. Eventually, I want this to be a two day camping event, but taking time to get the fundamentals right is important.
Enjoy the photos.

Looks like a fun event,
we have a similar event here in NY called the Stone Tool Show.
it's always a good time.

Thank you. I am familiar with that event, and will attend one day.
Almost all the equipment you see in these photos are my own, minus some club bows and arrows and a few of the atlatls that others provided and the presenter's setups. I keep building more equipment just for this event. The ISAC target frames in particular are holding up after 3 years of very hard use.

sorry i missed it

wish i was able to make it...... hopefully next year ill be able to make it up there

Sorry you two couldn't make it. Jamie, Tom was there, as well as Ben and a few others from your event. Noel, mark the second saturday in October on your calendar. Everyone had a great time, and it has a very tribal feeling about it. After 3 years, it really has solidified, though I do plan to offer a few new activities and workshops for next year. Eventually, I want to make this a two day event, but not quite yet. We even have zombie deer to shoot at.

Are you going to submit another article in PA Dane? I enjoyed last years.
