Title: Looking for cane?
Post by: stringstretcher on October 16, 2012, 09:50:25 am
I am looking for places to go and harvest some cane for arrows.  Particularly interested in Hill Cane, Switch Cane, and River Cane.  If anyone lives in the surrounding areas of Central Virginia, to Central NC and has access to these canes, I would love to hear from you.

And moderators, if this needs to be moved, I understand.  Just did not know where was the best to put this.

Any one else know of locations to be able to go and harvest some cane/bamboo?  Still looking for some from different areas of the states to compare growth and nodes from different locations.

Getting a general understanding of where cane likes to grow can give you an idea where to look. Is it damp areas?

I have found places that it grows, by looking at the USDA maps, but you still have to get permission.  I will be taking some road trips in my area, but that still does not allow me to look at the same types or other types growing in different areas.   Thanks for the suggestion though.
