Pretty sharp looking!
But ya know...
Sooner or later someone is gonna ask for a full draw pic and specs.
-
Oh yes. I'm working on it.
:)
-
Oh wow! That's beautiful work!
-
Looking pretty good.......now lets see the full spread. LOL
-
Nice rustic look on that one and neat shape!
-
Like it Bowman, want to see more pics. Unbraced, full draw and anything else you got cause that bows a beauty. :)

Im loving this bow, what are the specs man?! :)
-
Now that is authentic looking.. Lets see more!
Jon

Sure hope we get to see the money shot soon!
-
So far so good man! got to see some more that 1 ;)
-
favorite type of bow
-
really nice shape you got there!
As the others said, let us see more pics ...
Looking at the handle pic: Is here a lift off of sinew? If so, I would fix it with fish glue or hide glue.
Nock and handle pic: not shure about the wrappings. Is this artificial sinew? If so replace it with real sinew. This is a beautyful bow and should have the origin materials.
Hope you don't mind ....

Yes. I'll show some more pictures sooner. The bow is not finished. Yes I will replace the artificial sinew with real sinew. Sooner. :-) But the bow has a great shape. Thanks to all of you. :-) I will show some more pioctures att full draw sooner. I need a little help from my brother. He is the photographer. ;)
-
Very nice. I like to shoot Plains style bows. Looks like a beauty - like said, looking forward to the full draw shot. Know anyone with an iPad? I'd enjoy a video. I'm curious to see more short bows shoot.

Sweet bow

Oh....

More pics! What did the stave look like in the beginning?
-
The stave had natural refleks in the handle. Wytch elm. Its 53 " ntn. Pulls out 50# at 20". It's stacking a little from 20". I hope the bow can manage 22-23" but thats the limit I think. I'm afraid of cracking. Two layers of sinew. I think thats ok, but I'm afraid of the belly. Funny bow. :D
-
Beautiful! What is the handle made out of, like the way it looks?
-
A piece of red cloth, wrapped with artificial sinew. :-)
-
You did a beautiful job on that bow. And the handle really looks sharp! Well done sir! Josh
-
Should be good for at least 26 inch draw... The stacking is probably a combination of rapid rise in weight due to the profile and your nerves.
There is little reason to bother backing an Elm stave unless you're going to ask it to do something extra.
-
:D it 's the nerves. Yes indeed. :-) Maybee I reduce the drawweight a little. 50# - 21" is "overkill" :-)
-
I'm with PatM, that things gotta go to at least 25" the way it's built.
-
at 25" your probablly only looking at 62#, if that's over your max draw i'll give ya my address and i'll test it out for ya >:D ;), really nice bow, Bub
-
:-) I have no trouble with 62#. Dont'worry :-) But I think the bow maybe is to stiff in the tips. I think I'll have to reduce the tips a little. What do you think? The bow is stacking at 21" :o
:-)
-
i'd really have to see a draw pic before i answer that bowman, Bub
-
It will feel like it is stacking even more if you reduce the tips as you will have an even worse string angle problem. It will likely drop some pounds so that it feels like it's stacking less at 20.
However if you draw it back to the point where it actually is stacking, it will stop even more abruptly.
-
Great craftsmanship on an authentic looking bow. Can't beat this. Thanks for sharing it with us.
-
:DThanks to all of you. I will show the bow at full draw in the weekend.
:-)
-
First I would like to say that I wish I had this bow, wow! These types of bows were meant to be shot off a horse so the Souix used a shooting style of drawing up into the armpit not the cheek. Wonderful bow!
-
Thank you Horse Thief killer. Maybe the bow should relax in the present look. :D
-
It's a beautiful bow and I'm looking forward to full draw. HTKs got a point and I short draw my short bows, often shooting from out in front of my chin - above the armpit. But shooting 27" arrows, I like a 24 to 25 inch draw, I don't have a horse...yet.
Great stuff, still would love to see a video of it shooting!
-
Thanks. :D I'm shooting the bow now and it is extremely fast. :o The fastest bow I've ever build. It's like a mongol heavy horse bow. I think the upper limb is a little bit stiffer than the other. Maybe I fix that. But 21-22-23" is good enough for me. Lakota style. :D I will now finish the bow, repair some of the sides with sinew and hide glue and do the same with the tips. If some of you are the proud owners of "Encyclopedia of native american bows, arrows and quivers" Steve Allely and Jim Hamm, you can see my inspiration on page 152 vol 2. Thats a beautiful bow. :D Thank you all for positive respons. I promise to show more pictures of this fantastic bow. Compliments to all of you from Norway.
