After some hard months (year) and lack of time for bowmaking I hope I am finally back forever into.
List of bows I owe to the friends I will continue with this warbow for my cousin. He asked me long time ago to make one for him and I finally made one. It is elm, litle less than 78" ntn. Horn nocks (thanks to my friend Heiner), respecting 8/5 rule, oval belly. I began it with 4" of reflex and now it holds 2 1/2" after shooting in, not heat treated. It was interesting to brace it in the begining. Very interesting. >:( I usually do not make so straight and knotless staves so this is rare sight. Lower limb has ugly reflex kink in one spot so at full draw seems little stiff but it is not. Upper limb had reflex spread along entire limb, easy to work. Lower was really troublemaker.
I was today out of batteries for the full draw photo so I placed one form previous photo session.
Hope this one to serve well.

Awesome bow. Excellent. :-)

awsome is all i have to say

Great bow as usual. I got a couple of nice Yew braches from a local churchyard, so when they are seasoned I'll be trying your style of branch bow (limbo  )
Don't think I'll be pulling 102# :(... might try for something around 80#

Druid, as always your bows are awesome! Glad to see you are back into making bows. I really like the elegant style every bow of yours seems to have. If you don't mind me asking, what was the width of this bow?
-
I usually do not make so straight and knotless staves so this is rare sight.
;D Beautiful bow. The brown heartwood on the belly sets it off. Beautiful fulldraw!
-
Scary powerful looking bow. Another fine arc! Glad to have you back in the shop giving us inspiration. Could you post a photo of the horn nocks please?
-
Another great powerful bow, brother.
Glad to see you here again with a real warbow

Awesome, just awesome 8)

Another nice one! The tiller on your heavy bows is awesome.
-
I love the look of the heartwood left on the belly and it's awesome that it retained that much reflex. Glad to hear you're in it for the long haul. What do you think of the 8/5 rule on a longbow? Does it work well?
-
yep..I agree....all the above....I'll bet that shoots an arrow a long way....looks like a serious bow

Your bows always amaze me. I look at the unstrung pictures and have no idea how you get that perfect tiller! Amazing!
-
AWESOME BOW!

Nice! Great tiller! Every time I see a guy drawing a bow like that I am expecting to see a turd laying on the ground!

Good to see your stuff again, I get much inspiration from it. Very nice bow, never mind it is straight and knotless! But it's HUGE, I assume your cousin is, too :) And cool heartwood, was this a branch? I never get heartwood on stems of that dimension.
Good your back, hope you get a more relaxed year 2013.

Very nice work,beautiful bow. :)

Thank you very much my friends... I am glad that you liked this bow and some of them missed me. I have in my plan to make a bunch of the bows this winter. ;)
Width of this bow is 1 1/2". Maybe it looks wider at photo but it is because of the angle.
8/5 rule fits great if bow is proper tillered and long enough. As some master said (badger is one of them) longbow could be less strained if tillered good than some wide flatbow that mismatched tiller.
Shaun, I will make some better photos of the nocks tommorow if weather allows, it is ugly wet snow here.
This was sapling, almost a branch. I found them great for this purpose beacuse their natural traped back and low physical weight of the finished bow.
