Hey there fellers! I got this bow finished up over the holidays and decided I'd take it out hunting this morning on our last day of deer season here in Tennessee. I posted it in an earlier thread with a yew bow I built along side it. I've really come to love the way it shoots and decided to put a pair of small timber rattler skins I've been saving for just the right bow. Anyway, it all came together this morning when this doe presented me a slightly quartering 12yd shot. This 40# Osage bow didn't let me down as the arrow connected perfectly and the deer went down quickly. I've found I prefer the accuracy of lighter bows over the power of some of my heavier ones. With the right arrow combination 40# is more than enough for whitetails. I plan on keeping this one around and hunting with it for years to come! Here's a few pics I took with my phone since my computers still down...
Thanks fer lookin!! :o :o :o
Bow stats:
osage "the king wood"
62" NTN
40# @ 27"
1 3/8" w 3/8" tips

great job Will.that is a sweet bow and it looks to be working for you.
-
dang nice bow! and looks like some really good eating there . I kinda understand the headhunters rack fixation
but hunting for meat...a doe is the best!
the skin looks in pretty good condition too... you got it all! what kind of points are on those arrows?
-
That's a nice, Osage, Will. And congratulations on that good eating doe. I batted "O" this year, glad I brought a shooter with me to Tenn. :D
I'm leaning towards those lighter weight bows also. Except mine have to do double duty for hogs, too. I like to perforate pigs through both sides.
-
Very cool. Great lookin' bow, meat in the freezer and the hide fleshed out! Now that's a good day!
-
Thanks Steve! Yes it is :)
Richardzane- thanks! Actually that hide is from the big 9pt I killed earlier this November. I just got it racked this weekend. I plan on braintanning it in the coming weeks. And this year I've switched from hunting with my stone points a decided to try out the new 200gr Ace Super Express. They shure do get the job done ;)
Eddie, we all have years like that buddy... Maybe next year will be better for ya ;)
-
That's what it's all about right there! Great job!

This was really cool..I was texting Will about Iowa hunting and he replied to me from his stand that he just hit a doe... That was fun!!! Congrats buddy that was fun getting that picture. I had 9 come through last night at 20 yards no real good shot so maybe tonight.
-
Congrats Will, on your nice doe with the new bow! Both look real nice together. That small timber rattler looks real good on that bow. Glad all is well...

Closing out your season by taking a deer with a fine newly made bow, thats good living . The bow looks to be a beauty and no doubt deadly as well. Congrats Will , nice going all around.

Thanks again for the kind words yall!
-
Nice work Will! Looks like that beautiful little 40 pounder and good arrow placement will put plenty of blood on the ground.
-
Fine looking bow, and proven to do the job! Beautiful finish work on it as always!
-
Excellent! I know what you mean about things coming full circle... Early in the season I got to take a doe that was feeding on white oak acorns with a white oak bow - sort of rings your tuning fork ;).... Taking a deer with a bow you made with your own hands and putting an arrow that you built right where it needs to go - that's what it's all about. Congratulations.
-
great bow!
and congrats on the first game Will
nice pics!

Really nice bow Will and congrats on the doe. Danny

Nothing 'graphic' about your content. An excellent bow that took an excellent doe. Perfect in my world. Meat doesn't come from Walmart.
-
Thanks again y'all ;) ADB I just put explicit content so I didn't catch anybody off guard. I lived in California for a while and I know how blood and stuff offend some folks :)
