I was blessed with this buck on Sept 2nd. A 10 yard shot, he went down within 50 yards!
The bow is custom made with wood I selected, Kevin Brown made the bow "Herwaybows" is his company. The riser is red elm, persimmon and walnut with a slice of KY elk shed on the back. The limbs are KY coffeetree with glass.

I got the mount back last week.

I'm still grinning! I'm looking forward to making my first selfbow and topping this guy with that! You gotta dream right? :D

That for sure is a once in a lifetime buck. Congrats on your accomplishment. And way to go with getting a self bow and doing it that way. Nothing like it.
-
That's one nice buck there fella! Did you say Kentucky coffeebean and glass? This is a selfbow only forum. Nice deer either way ;)
-
Crazy rack on that one, I have never seen that before

I don't care what you shot that with...that's sweet...Congrats. and any deer taken with a bow you made will be a trophy in your eyes. ;)
-
Thanks guys, I'm assuming my bow has glass, really don't know for sure. It looks like all wood to me..
I was very fortunate to be in the right place and make the shot on this buck.
-
Yes you was, that is one dreams are made of for sure. :)

Congrats, that is a beautiful buck!! The body on that thing looks enormous. Just out of curiosity how much did it weigh? Judging by the looks of that arrow it looks like you got good penetration outta your bow.
-
That's an exceptional deer! Congratulations!
-
I did get a complete pass thru, carbon arrow, muzzy 3 blade head.. I've killed around 15 now with trad bows, usually I get full penetration but the arrow stays in the animal. That's with stingers and 2 blade bear razorheads. This is the only deer I've shot with the muzzy and the arrow stuck in the ground a couple of inches.. Hit him in the back of the ribs and exited the crease behind the off side shoulder.
The buck field dressed 175 pounds, not really that big for here...
Thanks everyone!
-
Sure looks bigger than that. I would have thought for sure it would have went over 200. :)

Very nice, congrats.

Wow!!! Congratulations on Amazing trad kill!!!! I know some rifle hunters that have spent a lot of money and not even come close to that , well done!

SWEETTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

Thanks Guys!
In 30+ years of bowhunting, it's rare to see a deer like this, let alone close enough for a shot.
I missed a 19 point non-typical last year (it was killed on neighboring farm by a gun hunter later), that grossed 185. I hunted so hard for a second chance at him, passing many great bucks, including the one I killed this year ( he wasn't as big last year...), and did not take a buck last year.
I was rewarded for being selective and, everything fell into place this year.

What a nice buck. Congratulations Mr. Wapiti
