This is my second group of bow builds. We have been meeting every friday night for the last couple of weeks. You learn a lot from watching others working on their bows. These guys are from our local bow club. One of those staves I am working on for Jw Halverson. Stalking fox to bad you didnt live a little closer. Josh (gun doc ) if you in the area sometime stop by on a friday night .

Cool, John. Working around others sure is a big help when building bows.
Those guys sure are bundled up for building bows. If you put some heat in that shop you might get more participants. ;D

Floor tillering tonight

In my opinion groups are the single best way to learn. There will always be one of you just ahead of the game and each juncture that can stop and explain it to the rest how he/she got there so quickly! Keep it up Hawkeye.

Wish some of you folks were closer to Central California .... be nice to see a bow worked??? Text and pictures are great but, got tom make it to one of the gatherings someday.............
-
Nice John. You working on one yourself?
-
Lol I am working on four all at the same time. But with 3 newbies I spend 70% of my time working with them. We are going to start tilling next Sat at 12 noon if you want to drive over.
I am working on the stave that you helped me with the holmegaart (that bow is for me) and I am working on the burlington bothers stave from Scott (this bow is for JW). I am also working on the stave you gave me that came from jw (this bow will be for Annette). The fourth bow I am working on is from a stave I got from Will H and it has crazy character (this bow is for me)

This is a pick of the four I am floor tillering.

I like the blacksmith post vise. I was fortunate to get a deal on one recently and can think of nothing better for bow making. Looks like fun too.

Crazy doesn't do justice to this stave! This is out and out sick! Can't wait to see the final product.
