I was wondering when to plant a food plot. I am planning on something small, probably clover, chicory, and/or soybeans for winter. What time of year should I plant? I live in NJ.

Probably after the last frost. Contact your county ag agent. He can give you the info you need for your area.
The most important thing is to get a soil test. Your county agent can help with that. Usually it is free, you take the sample as directed and either give it back to the agent or mail it off to the lab that handles the testing. Without a soil test you don't know what the pH(acid/basic) of the soil is or what fertilizer combo to use for the crops you plant.
