I cant find this thread? Anyway I had great time hanging out with him at the ia jam and offered to get him from Ia to Tn and back then to Ia. So just Pm me with you thoughts on getting him from South D to here. We dont need him reading our plans hehe >:D
-
He can walk that far ! >:D >:D
Cant wait to see him and you !
-
I've been chatting with j dub the last couple weeks about trying to get him to the classic....I even proposed starting the "get Jw to the classic" charity...lol. ;)
Hope he isn't reading all this... ::)
-
Ahhh phooie just tie him up gag him, put him in a crate and ship him to the classic. >:D

So who's gonna send you up there to hog tie him up? I know you like hounding and hogtying ron. ;) easy tho...I heard he's pretty squirrelly and puts up a good fight
-
Iowa Bow, just tell him you have an injured raptor at your house. He will drop everything and be on his way. The man has a passion for rescuing those beautiful birds. If he gets mad when he finds out he was duped just hand him a piece of osage or hickory to calm him down.
-
I'm in for $50 and I'll donate a primo osage stave to be raffled. I did one on PP and it fetched 250.00 after the smoke cleared. Danny
-
I tried to entice him to IN to be a guest speaker to all my middle school students about his profession and even threw in a free school lunch, but the mileage fees were a little out of my budget for the round trip :o. I wonder if he could be shipped flat rate USPS ?

He is kinda flat lol

Last year I had planned to pick him up on my way through, but went on a hunting trip to Africa and did not make it to the Classic. One thing I can guarantee, if he makes it to the farm, you won't need to hire any one for entertainment! He has the quickest wit of anyone I know. He and his young helper spent the night here a year or so ago on a trip to pick up a wounded bird. We really enjoyed the visit! A/Ho Joe
-
lets all pitch in and get him a plane ticket.i'll donate a little.
-
Joe ,you need to make it back and bring him along with you. :) Let me know soon enough and I will put you both up. ;) :)

What the heck else does JW have to do anyway. All those raptors can be without him for a few days. Not that we need another commedian at the Classic but one more surely won't hurt! 8)

There is a "Rumor" out there that JW can ride a bicycle 800 miles in one week.
That should get him to Iowa. ;D

Somehow this seems to have the flare of a great movie. You know "saving Private Ryan" Except it would be "Road trip in the bug with JW" Then agian in might be more like "JW goes Primitive" or -------- ----------- --------- You fill in the blanks Come on guys lets hear your thoughts on the movie name! >:D
-
How about " The Classic of JW", or "The Primitives Meet JW", or "Entertainment by JW" ::) ::)
-
JW has been conspicuously absent from this thread! ???

As quick a wit as he has it is a bit out of character for him to be speachless. I'm guessing that he is a proud man as we all are to a certain degree and doesn't want to influence anyone. He's not a taker he's a giver and I know that sometimes givers have a hard time recieving. I have not met him in person but have spoken with him on a number of occasions by phone and I am sure he is a blast in person. Testiment to that is how much everyone wants him to be there. Some people just add a little spice to life and apparantley JW is that kind of person. My offer stands. Danny

Danny was right on the money. I got that Scandanavian Lutheran background that requires me to pitch in and help out, but never ask for help, and to refuse help because "I'm just fine and I'll be ok"
Well, it was put to me bluntly just very recently that in refusing I would be denying others the chance to do good. In effect, I would be standing in the way of them receiving the blessings we get when we give from the heart. I spoke with a friend about this today and she told me it was pride, and not the good kind, more like the 7 deadly sins kind of pride.
So, I have been humbled and I am thankful. I now need to clear my calendar for the dates, organize volunteers to cover caring for my birds, and all the things you gotta do when you are going to be out of town. Looks like I got a road trip in my future.
Thanks.
-
we were gonna get you there anyway Jdub.this is good news brother.see you soon.

It was great talking to you JW today. Isaac enjoyed it as well.
Those of you that have offered to help I will send you a PM with some details. Those of you that would like to help please email me and I can keep a list and kinda organize the contributions. I will take the number of people and divide it by the dollars needed. Thanks for helping this is going to be a great classic!

Ok Gus I got ya on the list. What I am doing is taking names and then dividing the cost among those giving. The more names the less the cost. Our goal is easy only $250.00. We already have some that are donating but could use more. The donations will be used to pay for gas from his house to mine and back again. I will drive him from Ia to Tn and because I already planned on going it will create no additional to me. Annette will pack food so we will be well fed. Thank you gus I will pm you in a couple of days with details.

Here is a preliminary list of you who have committed to helping JW: Hedgeapple, turtle, Pat B, Cracker, Mullet, Gun Doc, Kerry B, Stringman, Iowabow, Gus, Seabass, and Sidewinder. Our goal is about 250.00 so if we can get 2 more people to donate it would be about 20.00 per person. You guys are all great for helping. In about a week i will send a text message on where to send the money along with a timeline. Thanks again.

Driving Mr. Halverson. ;D
David
That's good stuff right there!!! let me take it 1 step further... National Lampoon's driving mister Halvorsen.... I can see it now the movie starts out with an eagle screaming jumping off a branch and flying into the sky..... then the camera shoots from aerial view , it sees a station wagon driving down to South Dakota road ,as it zooms in you can see J dubs head out the window on the passenger side and driving would be Chevy Chase as long lost cousin Clark Griswold , the whole time the song holiday road with the plan
-
Not with the plan It's supposed to say would be playing But I can see that part of the screen on my phone until I posted.... I digress gotta make sure you stop for something to eat on the way throw me on the list!!!!! I can't wait to hear the stories, have fun j dub!!!

I realize JW that the public school system in South Dakota is not as accuarate in their spelling instruction as the schools in southern Kansas, so let me help edumicate ya. You mispelled the word sammiches. Its supposed to be spelled like this.....sammidges. ;) Danny
