Title: Can't decide?!?
Post by: Stringman on January 31, 2013, 02:30:27 pm
So i was knocking some more hunting points out this morning and I picked up this rather inconspicuous flake and started working it down. I realized quickly that I was gonna have trouble. It being so pretty, I was finding it hard to remove so much material and make just another hunting point with it. So I set it aside to finish later.

Any ideas??? And what is that stuff called?

The other points I made pale in comparison to that first piece!   :o

look's like gold sheen to me, you cut it one way it comes out like lace the opposite and you get that shimmery iridescent finish, there's gold , green, silver that I know of, nice lookin' point stringman, Bub

All are fine looking specimens. Heck. Leave that point notchless. It would still look great.  Tower

I don't know why but leaving it notchless would feel unfinished. I'm leaning towards corner notch. (hope i don't screw that up!)

HWS - Welcome to PA! We're all just common here, so don't be shy. And if you knap make sure and post some pics.

Well as Harvey would say, "and now the rest of the story..."

I tried a corner notch and almost pulled it off.   :'(

On the other hand, I was able to finish the hunting points. All 130ish and sharp enough to shave a gnats bikini line

I agree, Frank. Very pretty stuff. I couldn't just let it go without finishing it. I guess it ended up as a hunting point after all.
