Hey gang. i'm working on my first bow and i can't seem to find what angle to cut my knocks at. Can anyone enlighten me?
-
about 45 degrees.

toward the belly of the bow

I noticed some bowyers cut them at 55%. sometimes better if doing long string tillering or you have the other loop much larger. Don't you get less stacking with a greater angle..?
-
The smaller the angle of the string to the belly at the point of the groves the less stacking and the faster the bow that's why static recurves work well, however the string angle at full draw should determine how you cut your nocks ( otherwise you risk the string poping out of the grooves ) normally that's about 45 degrees but I don't know how many of us actually measure the angle

go to the archive section, Gordon's hazel build a long and go thru the entire thing lots of info and shows how to properly do the nocks, Bub
