I was gifted this knotty Yew stave when I was at Pappy's hunting this Fall, thanks, John. it was a challenge for me with all of the knots, especially the ones on the side of the limb. I also had to back it with rawhide for insurance and then dug out one of those light, pinkish colored Timber Rattler skins I had.
I removed a lot of sapwood, tillering from the back, in order to keep some of that pretty yew color on the belly. I violated every bump, limb and knot on the back doing it, where the scarey part came from.
I saw it was going to come out light for me so I decided to make it for my wife or daughter, whichever one wants it. it is 59" nock to nock, 30# @ 28", fast flight string with micarta tips. Oh yea, I named it,"Happy Hour". Glad it was finished and the arrow rest is the cork from the bottle of Merlot I was drinking when I finished it. :)

It became a good looking bow. Nice work! The gifted staves are the most difficult...

WOW that doesnt hardly look like you in that pic Eddie? Must be funny lighting.
Nice bow, at 59" she must be working OT.
-
Cool bow there, Eddie. It looks just perfect for Mrs. Eddie. :)

Great bow Mullet. Is that bottle of Merlot the reason it finished up a little light? ;D
-
That's awesome man! I knew there was a bow in that stave :) Well done buddy!
-
Nice one Eddie, you done it justice.
-
Very cool little bow, Eddie. Looks like it fits Kathie perfectly. 8)

Pearlie; it was working overtime, this was the second bow that I have ever tillered from the backside, both, Yew. I like the look of heartwood more than the sapwood.
Will and John, I gave it my best shot and for as light as it is, it slings a 510grn. 45-50# arrow pretty darn fast. ???
Clint, Danny,,, nawww, Sawdust gets in a glass a lot easier than the neck of a bottle. ;) I took a tip from Gordon. He used cork, I think to build up a grip section of a bow, so I thought I'd try it too.

Very nice Eddie, maybe Jon can come up with another junk stave for you,you seem to get all his mishaps. ;) ;D ;D

That one turned out pretty sweet, Mullet. It looks like you didn't have any trouble with someone wanting it!!

Fine looking bow there, good job of working a potential problem stave into a really nice finished bow.
