This one was made from a long dead Osage branch that was maybe 1 1/2" thick in the middle. 54" ntn 20#@24" . It shoots pretty fast for a lightweight bow. It is backed with cotton cloth from Wally world. Not because it needed it but because my daughter is crazy for pink zebra stripe. The tiller looks pretty funky because she learned on d-bows and always cants the bow out of habit. This is also my first attempt at a Strunk wrap. Obviously, I haven't got that figured out yet. My daughter liked it though, so thats what matters. Thanks for looking. Josh

Nice bow. Her smile says it all.

Dang, Doc! She's got flawless form! Look at the line of the arrow and the line of her forearm. Can you bring her up this way next time thru so she can critique my form and help me with shooting?
Nice work on the bow, too. No joshing!
Is she going to the Classic?

Thanks for the kind words. I'll be sure to show her what you all said. I started her at four yrs old with a little erc eastern woodland that drew 6# @ 15". She's been showing me up every since. We used to have a little competition when we were practicing. We shot 50 arrows for score and if she outshot me, I had to buy her a DQ blizzard. At first she was shooting at 5 yds and I was shooting at 20 yds. Now she's shooting at fifteen yds and still wins a blizzard off me almost everytime. She not only got her mother's looks, but that's where her shooting form comes from. She makes it easy to be a proud daddy. JW she won't be coming to the classic this year. If I make it, it will only be through considerable effort and generosity on the part of my employer. Once again, thank you for the kind words. Josh

Nice looking bow! And I hope you have to buy DQ blizzards for many years to come! :) Thats cool that she shoots with you...I can't wait til my granddaughter is old enough to start shooting.

Lol! Oh yeah! That's definitely a win win situation. The rules change from time to time to. For instance, if all four of my kids are competing, then the top five scores get blizzards. Of course only the top score gets braggin' rights. The highest honors of any competition. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Josh

Great looking bow. She's lucky.
-
Way to go Dad! The whole set-up is first class. I love seeing the nice arrows and quiver to go with a nice kids bow. She looks like a natural.
-
sorry for not understanding. but what are blizzards?
-
Thank you fellas! Squirrel, I don't think mere words can describe a blizzard. But I will give it a try. Over here in the states we have a sort of ice cream parlor/restaurant chain called Dairy Queen that offers a soft serve ice cream based confection that has a huge bunch of optional flavorings. You can get a blizzard with any number of kinds of crushed candy pieces, different kinds of fruit pieces, crushed cookies, chunks of chocolate chip cookie dough, chunks of cheesecake and different syrups all blended up and served in a cup. The options are almost endless! My personal favorite is banana split with m&m pieces . Chocolate chip cookie dough and reeses pieces being a close second.
-
Damn that makes me wan't to join in with you guys over there as soon as possible. well when ive got the money im headin over there and doing some hunting, not being able to use my bow to slay things over here is just killing me. wish i lived in the time where every man was required to use a bow by law! The girls always have the best shooting form.

Man! I know what you mean. I'm hanging out in Denver and its 65 degrees. A blizzard sounding pretty good right about now!
Thanks Carson! Here's a pic of her quiver. Its a case skinned opossum. Josh
-
Very cool. I love the finish work you did with the backing and handle. Perfect bow for her!
-
cool quiver too! did you make that aswell?
-
cool quiver too! did you make that aswell?
Yes I did. All my kids have critter quivers that I made for them. My oldest daughter has a coyote quiver, the one you see here is a 'possum, my youngest daughter has a skunk and my little boy has one made from a large red mink. He wants one made from an alligator but those are in short supply in KS. But that is being worked on and I appreciate the effort that has been put forth in getting one. Josh
-
do you tan the hides or just leave them to dry?
-
Great job on the bow and quiver. Love the handle. Her smile says it all.
Ya'll take the blizzard, I'll have a chocolate covered vanilla cone....mmmmm
Thanks,
Jim
