Title: Best design/wood for sinew backing?
Post by: Christian Soldier on February 16, 2013, 02:44:03 pm
Within the next few weeks I will be recieving a good bit of sinew from a trade on another forum and I think I'll make my first sinew backed bow with it.

I have some hide glue already and I've made a bunch of self bows but I'd really like to ensure that the sinew is really being maxed out to its best use.

So what length/design and wood would work best for a bow that draws about 50lbs @ 26" and is to be backed with said sinew ?

Horn bow  >:D

Do some research and try to find some sinew backed bows that peak your interest and inspire ya. Osage, yew, and the junipers are the top woods to sinew back...and there's too many designs and combinations to list to suit your draw. What do YOU like?

Make its length 2 times your draw length.
