Title: Here's one I made earlier...
Post by: CaptainBeaky on March 05, 2013, 06:41:21 pm
Hi All

I currently have 3 ash bows on the go, at varying stages - a flat bow, a monster pyramid bow and a molly. I'll post those when they're finished, but in the meantime, as suggested, here are a few other things I made earlier...

Small utility knife in rose damasteel and ebony. Full height convex grind, stainless Corby bolts and lanyard tube.

Aikuchi tanto, forged from an old file, clay tempered.
Fittings in tulipwood, brass and buffalo horn.

Puukko in siversteel - blade by Pekka Tuominen.
Handled in desert ironwood with nickel-silver fittings and mammoth ivory.
This one is mine!

And finally - a restoration job on a daito blade I was gifted from my sensei.
A 16th century blade in a mish-mash of fittings, with a set of very bad lateral and co-planar bends in the blade: I restored the blade to it's proper shape and made a complete new set of fittings.
A taster:

Thanks for looking  ;D

Err...
3.5 - 4mm vegetable tanned. I'm not sure what weight that equates to. :o
