I was out shooting for a bit and saw the mail lady stop at my mail box, then pull up and back in the drive way. I was thinking, "I don't have anything on order". Well she comes around the back of the truck, opens the door and slides a triangle box out with what appeared to be a bow tip stuck out of it about 4". I just looked at her and she looked at me, and I told her "you are not going any where until well look at this", and she agreed. As I was taking it out, I looked down as to where it was from, and it was from Ar. Then it hit me,,,,,TRADE BOW....
Yep you got it right, I got a beautiful, unharmed in the shipping bend in the handle elm I do believe bow. I am not sure what kind of skins are on it, but they sure are pretty. JonW....you my friend have just made and sent me my first ever bend in the handle bow, and I love it. I will get some pictures of it later this evening or tomorrow under the Virginia skies where it will reside with great pride the rest of it's days.
As I looked back through the trade bow thread, I will leave you for now with what I could find...lol. The title of the picture was, "just a tease for now"

-
cant wait to see some pics. Glad it was in good shape sticking out of the box and all.
-
You got a JonW bendy handled bow :o You lucky dog.
-
It is a sweet thing too let me tell you. Very very nice, and again, thank you very much JonW.

Glad it arrived in one piece. I'm always leary of sending a bow through the USPS. It is Elm with Black Locust overlays. It actually bends up to the handle and not really "through" it. The "skins" are some scrapbook type paper I found at a hobby store. That bow is the fastest shooting bow I've made at that weight. Shoot it, hunt with it, use it to jab in the ground and pull youself up out of the creek, I built it to be used.

Well you sure got me on several things on this one. I looked at the profile of your full draw picture again, and could not decide if it actually did bend in the handle or not. I had to pull it back a couple of times when it first arrived and could not feel it bend. And the skins,,,you sure fooled me.....lol. You are one talented bow maker for sure, and I really love the bow. It will see some Virginia woods for sure that you can count on.

It sure is a great bow everyone. I did shoot it a couple of time this morning, but I have to get some arrows made up for it. It is really really sweet.
