Here is an osage longbow I just finished for a guy in Washington state. He wanted a simple osage longbow. Just wood and a string. He also wanted some primitive arrows. Stone points on fir shafts. The points were knapped by Stringman (thanks Scott!). Thanks for looking.
48# @ 28" draw
65" ntn
lower limb is 1 3/4" shorter than upper limb.
3/8" + tiller
couple coats of shellac during finish sanding

nice, I especially like the obsidian points.
-
I like it Carson, especially that front profile and the subtle knotty character on the back. Nice clean work on the nocks too.
I'd be real happy with that bow.
You make some artistic arrows also my friend.
-
Looks great, Bro! For a simple bow it sure is a looker and that tiller is a lovely sight. I'm sure he'll be really happy with that. The arrows are amazing looking.
-
Doesn't get much better than that. So beautiful. Thanks for sharing!
-
Perfect tiller, very elegant.
-
Man, I agree with Ryan. That's really elegant, a perfect hunting bow!
Nice backdrop of yew logs. You threw that in just to tease us huh? Great job, the recipient will be very very happy.

Nice job on that bow Carson. I like seeing yew guys posting osage bows.
I like the car in the background.
-
Very nice bow and arrows tiller looks dead on,did you leave the sap on or is it backed with rawhide or something. :-\
Pappy

Lovely!
-
Nice work Carson. Love the simple bows.
-
Nice kit Carson.
-
That makes me want to pick it up and pull it! Sweet looking setup all round.
-
Sweet piece of work, Carson. Really nice bend, too!!
-
The difference between a craftsman and a worker is that a craftsman pays attention to the details. Every aspect of an item receives the same high level of finish and nothing is left at good enough. That set came from the hands of a craftsman! Nice job, Carson!

I like those arrows.
-
Nice looking bow. Very fine work.
-
Sweet!! :)
-
Really enjoy looking at the bow and pictures. Simply beautiful. Great tiller!
-
I really like the pair. Simple, but the quality of craftsmanship is outstanding.
-
Thanks everyone for the very kind words. I just want to point out again that those obsidian points were knapped by Scott (Stringman). I only dream of being able to knapp like that! I really do enjoy hafting them.
Nice backdrop of yew logs. You threw that in just to tease us huh?
Gabe
Gabe, wasn't my intention to tease you with the yew logs backdrop... I just couldn't find a surface in the backyard that wasn't covered with yew logs ;)
Very nice bow and arrows tiller looks dead on,did you leave the sap on or is it backed with rawhide or something. :-\
Pappy
No backing or sapwood on this puppy, Pappy. I think it is just the light in that one pic, that looks like it has a whitish backing.
Nice job on that bow Carson. I like seeing yew guys posting osage bows.
I like the car in the background.
Thanks Clint. One day at the range with 4 other Oregon bowyers, I suddenly realized that we were all shooting Osage bows... so yeah, I guess we like the stuff ;D
That is the neighbors car. A 1934 Hut mobile 8).
Thanks again everyone for the very nice comments.

Love the tips Carson. I'm going to split some 5yr old osage this weekend....some will be coming your way.

Snag, you sure know how to make me feel like a kid at Christmas again!
-
Fun, huh? haha Got to have something to look forward to. The problem with this piece of osage is it is straight and no pin knots...kind of boring for someone with your skills. But somehow I think you two will get along just fine!
-
That is an awesome bow and arrows. Screw all the complicated stuff! Those are NICE pieces of work man!
-
Very well done.
-
Thanks Zion, and rps3.
Dave, another boring straight clean stave?! OK, I guess. ;) Thanks.
-
The essence of primitive archery. really nice work!
-
Bows like this are why Primitive Archer Magazine needs a centerfold. 'Nuff said.
-
Nice work Carson everything looks good.
Rob
-
Thanks Mickey, and Trapper Rob. JW..I dont know what to say. Cracking me up as usual. Thanks.
-
I wasn't cracking wise. Serious as a heart attack. This bow would make a great centerfold.
I can't wait to see the photos in this fall's hunting threads when this bow struts her stuff for serious!
-
sweet kit, great work all around, I just sent stringman some points in a trade and sent them with some trepidation knowing the quality he puts out, lucky for me he drew my name too
-
Thanks Bubby, but this ain't about me. ;)
Carson just let me know if you run out. I'm finally gettin serious on that yew stick you sent me. Might have it bending by the weekend.

That is some kinda fine work Carson! I do like em simple and uncluttered. This is definitely in keeping with the quality of work I expect to see from you. Josh
-
Yea, Carson, all of it is totally pro. The arrows don't get any better. I would kill for a dozen. And that's the right tiller for split finger.
-
Beauty! Nice car too!
-
Yep - a very nice set of bow and arrows - somebody is going to be pleased. Excellent work man!
-
Nice and simple Osage! Scott, excellent job on those points and great job Carson on the bow and arrowsmithing. Wintu style Scott?
Tracy
-
Those in the pic are more kahokia style.
Scott
-
Often times, simpler is better. :D
-
Thanks again JW. I am hoping the new owner puts it to work.
Thanks Bubby, that is a lucky coincidence you drew eachother's names. Scott turns out some very nice points.
Scott, looks like I will be needing some more here pretty soon. I will let you know.
Thanks Josh.
Steve, you don't have to kill for a doz. You know I sell them ;)
Thanks lostarrow, Osborn, Tracy, and Tom.
-
She reminds me of that girl in high school/college who could show up in whatever, with no makeup, and hair just put up in a ponytail and look drop-dead gorgeous. One sweet lady you got there. The arrows are awesome to boot.
-
Excellent!!!
Sweet and simple :)
NOW how do I get on of those logs ;)
-
Looks superb! Absolute clean tiller, like the nocks!
And the arrows - a dream!
-
Thanks Coaster. What logs? I don't see any logs. ;) I need to get splitting and see what I actually have on my hands.
Thank you Simson.
-
Cool bow, simple is nice.
Elegant lines.
