Title: Hop Horn Beam question.

So a while back i had posted about weather to split or not to split. I've decided that i would be best for me to leave well enough alone and just use what i have, so i wont be splitting it. That means that the back of the bow to be will be fairly flat, very little crown. My questions are these. Is HHB like osage in terms of width dimensions? i was thinking maybe a bendy handle that's about 62 inches long? not sure. I would consider a molle because its so wide that i have plenty of room for it. through experience, what style of bow has seemed to work well for this wood? I have a 29.5 inch draw, but i would also consider making it 26 or 27 for a short hunter that i can crouch with.  Let me know what you guys think!

I think it is very close to osage dimensions.  I just measured the HHB hunting bow Pearly made for me and it is a shade under 1 3/8" wide. 

For what its worth, I am 0 for 2 on flipping the tips on HHB with dry heat.  I'll use steam from now on.

so your talking about maybe 1 1/2 inches wide? do you have a link to the bow that i can look at? if i choose a molle would i want it to be 1 3/4 or  2 inches?

I have no clue on Molly dimensions.  I just finished my first and last Molly bow.

Its very similar in tension strength to osage, but is weaker in compression if that helps. Never done a molly myself but i would be very interested to see how HHB makes out in that design. Good luck.

I have made several 1 1/2 at the fad to about mid limb the tapper to the tips,62/64 n-n and they are really fine shooters,maybe a little overbuilt but very
durable and long lasting which is what I mainly go for in a bow. HHB is probably my favorite white wood. ;) :) Make a great bow.I heat the belly pretty good while I am making any straighting or tip adjustments and adding some reflex but don't really heat treat per say,they seem to do fine with that also.
