Here's my latest Alaska take down molly. 72" ntn, 80 lbs plus @ 31", 2 1/2" wide at fades. Blood wood belly, bubbinga back, hickory core. Handle over lap is 8". Handle has two
extra lams , one zebra wood and one purple heart. 1/4" x 20 carriage bolts are 3/4" from each handle end. Nut knobs are turned blood wood. Levers are red oak, 13 3/4" long with 2 1/2" refex. There are thin purple heart patches over the bubbinga near fades to keep down a couple lifted splinters. The limbs can be taken down to 30 1/2". Bow was glued up with tiite bond 3. Sweet shooter
Here's some pics from the range today. cheers fiddler49

whoa, amazing work!
-
Really impressed with the bows you post. No exception here, very nice Sir!
-
Very cool! Do you think it would be possible to make a shorter version or does the length help with the stress on the joints?
Good looking bow, and good looking dog too. :)
-
Very cool. Nice job!
-
Keep 'em comin Fiddler, love that wood combo. 80#, you're a tough ole coot ya huntin moose?!
-
That is one killer looking bow. Beautiful job.
-
cool bow, now ya got me thinkin'......
-
Thanks lads!
Yes you can build a shorter version if you have a shorter draw. This bow is a molly with removable levers but
you don't have to build this bow, You could make a straight limb bow and use the same over lap take down idea.
Tillering is much easier than it looks. Just make the bow string parallel to the handle. Here's a few more pics. cheers fiddler49

Wow!! A very interesting bow!! Beautifully put together.
-
Hey! hey! now! what?? you did what?? holy cow!!!!!! that is soo cool!!! this put a whole new slant on all wood bows!!! and I thank you . btw nice job JeffW
-
are they just tied on using string? then thats just showing off. SS
-
Thanks again lads!
S S Yes the levers are just tied on with 24 ft of dacron bow thread. I rub a sticky blue" Swix" cross country ski wax between the levers and limbs to prevent rotation of levers. You could also use toilet bowl wax gasket, asphaltum or birch bark tar. You also can build this bow with out any bolts. Just use 1/4" dowel threw the two handle holes and wrap with a strong thread. Check out my red oak board bow below. 60 plus lbs @31. Just a riff cut red oak board from Lowe's. cheers fiddler49

Those bows are... interesting! You're certainly thinking outside the box!
-
very very cool,
With an overlapping design it doesnt need 2 removable screws (or dowels) to keep it together, you can use 1 permanent and 1 removeable and then just fold it up.
-
8) thats really a good idea with that bow.
-
Wow it still looks cold in Birchwood Loop area. Looks great glad I am not there anymore but good to see ya. Gary came down and shot with us at Moses Lake Billi was here too!

-
That's me great to see ya on here! Building my dream bow shop and archery range this summer near Spokane ! There are more Alaskans down in my area than in Alaska! We call it Alaska light! More critters to kill too!
-
Very interesting designs... I don't think I've seen anything like that, congrats on originality :)

Excellent. V interesting, some nice 'primitive engineering' (e.g simple, reliable and better than a shed load of electronics and crap that so much modern stuff is ull of)
