Well before I started knapping my dad got me a couple of pieces of obsidian on a trip to Mexico for me to play around with. Now that I have some tools I decided to play around with one of the pieces. It was quite large but I ended up snapping it in half by accident and making this point instead. I'm very happy with it and I can see my pressure flaking skills are developing far more quickly than my percussion. Anyways here's the point. Thanks for looking!

Thanks guys! As it's the one of the only piece of rock my dad will likely ever give me I decided to make it into a necklace.

Thanks guys! I definitely make sure to wear eye protection when I'm working. From what people have told me about knapping, the learning curve is a matter of getting through lots material. Since, at the moment, I don't have tons of rock I figure I need to make a bucket teach me like a truck load would.
