I wanted to make just a simple no frills basic bendy handle osage at the shoot in marshall...guess I wasn't the only one cus Paulsemp had the same idea ;) :D ...so simple bows we built...I started chasing a ring about ten o clock in the morn and by 5:30 I was ready to shoot it,but I had to do some venison steaks, tenderloins,n backstraps first for dinner >:D ...anyways pearl took his he made, and paul took his he made and cody tagged along and we went and shot the course shooting our bows in with a scraper n sandpaper in my back pocket, but none of us needed em cus we made our bows out of the king >:D ...it just goes to show it don't take long to make a simple bow..in between that time I also shot a round,bs'ed with folks, took a lunch break, and a I watch the kids break, and I prob only spent 4 hours(still a generous guess) of actual work time before I was ready to shoot it...and that was with nothing but handtools only, and no tiller sticks or trees,or scales to weigh it while tillering or after(until today I scaled it)...I also kept it simple by never once touching it with a heat gun,so zero heat shaping or corrections...just took a stick and widdled it down....el natural...I do enjoy making a bow that way from time to time :D
so it came out at 58" ntn...61@27"...pin nocks...hempwrap handle...n that's it ;) 8)

Doesn't get any better than that Chris. Great looking bow.

Cool bow, Chris but those tips are might fat for one of your bows. ::)
-
Very nice and a nice bit of character too.
You should have to use only one hand to build bows from now on.
-
Cool bow, Chris but those tips are might fat for one of your bows. ::)
yeah, whats up with that!? what have you been feeding them? ::) ::) ::) ::)
-
Funny how you think of certain things, stuff tools etc.....when they are in your face like the tape measure. I have to get me one of those... 8)
-
thanks guys...
haha..yeah pat...they are fat alright for me,ill be the first to admit it...I even called em fattys while shooting the course....but this was all about going back to simple times ;) :)
-
Ohh yea I like it, you can't beat simple
-
nice job Chris.
-
Very nice bow Chris. Tiller is bang on.
-
Nice one!!! That's my kind of bow, nice and simple :)
-
Sweet bow Chris. Perfect tiller, the specks are hot, and the unbraced profile is just awesome!
-
Thats awesome, love it. I have alot of tight ringed Osage and you have given me hope for it. Cheers Steve
-
Dang Chris, you're rocken them out now! Another nice one.

Yah....porker!!!! I tried to get him to narrow them Pat, but he was scared...
-
I'm really liking your "simple" bows ;)
-
Quick bow there, you were shooting it pretty well too!

I'll second that, I double dog dared him and it didn't work >:D Sweet bow and I got to put a lot of shots with it.
-
Nice bow Cris like the knots.
-
Seriously tight rings. Nice work as always.
-
Nice poundage out of that simple bender there. It does'nt bother me to work thin ringed osage either.I like it.
-
Just a stick and a string !!
It don't get any better then that !
Hopefully next year things will come together differently, and I can quit yacking and do me one more Marshall bow !
That place means so much to me !
Thanks for sharing the passion, and the place !

Oh yeah! I'm digging that one! All bow, without the show! Just the way I like it! Josh
-
I'll second what Carson said about the tiller, specs and unbraced profile.....nice, I'll also go along with Beadmans comment about
the tight ringed osage being good stuff. And while I'm in such an agreeable mood, Dwardo is right, you should only be allowed to build them with one hand from now on. ;)
-
I love it. That is exactly the kind of bow that I like the best. That kind of unbraced profile on a bow that you haven't heat corrected.... well dammit man, you can tiller a bow! Good to see you're posting more bows these days. Keep em coming! :)
-
Another great bow! Turned out real nice. Watching you guys pump out those bows blows my simple mind.

Another nice one Hawk. I bet it really spits an arrow - I likes Me some tight ringed 'Sage ! Bob
-
nice stick man, bub
-
Thanks guys..
Pearly n Paul if I didn't have the flu right now I'd be my witty self and have some kinda smart arse remark back...but I don't....
Dwardo n Greg...I might just try that one day with one hand tied behind my back ;)
-
Cool bow. I'm liking the tight ring Osage, also. Got a 50" shorty shooting that has slightly wider rings.
I hear you on the flu. Just trying to shut down the shop here at school and I feel like ...ugh.
-
With specs and looks like that, tell me again why we should use another type wood.
I cut a ligament in my hand a few years ago(while making a bow of course) and did a build along with one hand in a sling. It was fun and the bow actually came out pretty good.
-
5 hour build time? Are you kidding? Getting kinda slow in your old age, eh? >:D
Nice bow though. I plan a simple bendy in the near future. Keep em coming
-
Thanks y'all...hang in there Parnell..your almost done...
I remember that mishap Bob...with your hatchet right? Yeesh...and where's the time gone?...oh yeah time flies when your making bows like a madman ;D
I'll try harder next time Greg...and use some power tools this time >:D
