Title: Billet splicing ?

I have two billets I want to try splicing with. Do you want the thickest rings in the splice or does it matter?

Jon, Ideally you want the butt end of sister billets spliced together so both limbs are similar in consistancy plus are situated in the bow as the tree grows, from handle out each limb.
In actuality you can splice unsimilar billets together and still make a good bow.
