I've never named a bow, the need just never struck me. I've called this one Knotty Boy since it was a gnarly limb, and the name has stuck. This is/was my Plan B bow for the bow trade and I finally finished her up. The stave was gifted to me by my buddy Juan Menchaca (juan) who can be found lurking about from time to time. So first, thanks Juan. Loved the stave. Owe you one! I've posted a few details on it in the Progress thread. Knotty gnarly Osage. High crown and thin rings, but pipe straight. 3 inches of natural reflex when I started and it still retains 2 inches when first unstrung. 66 inches long, 1 1/2 inches wide for the middle third and then tapers to 1/2 inch tips. Narrowed the handle slightly. 50ish at 27 inches, bendy handle. I filled 9 knots with Super Glue, and added sinew to 2 of the bigger ones. Love the way she shoots. Not the fastest bow I own but not the slowest by a long shot and one of the more pleasant shooters. The accents are silk thread which was an experiment as I have not done it before. I'm happy with them but I can improve upon them if I do them again.
Bottom line...the trade has been a great time for me. I got 3 bows out of the deal, Plan A which I will now send to my recipient, the beautiful HHB bow I received from GregB and this one. Granted, one will be leaving the nest, but I just enjoy making them. Hope you like this one. Slim.

If I could find something to complain about with that bow someone would need to smack me upside the head with a locomotive.
Nice decorations on a fine looking bow!
-
Very nice bow Slimbob. I like the silk wrappings. Reminds me of a coral snake pattern.
-
Looks great. I would not have the patience for the silk wrap, you made it look good.
-
Wow that is one sexy bow. Ill bet it shoots as good as it looks too.

Thanks for all the comments guys.
Clint, you nailed it, it is a Coral Snake pattern on all the colors, all red and yellow, no red and black.
Kenny, the thread wraps were a pain in the arse. They are far from perfect. Had to wrap, cut off and start over a few times. They look good, but could be better.
Dubois, lot's of inspirational work from lot's guys on PA. Just keep pluggin'.
Pearl Drums, back at you Christopher. :) Glad you like it!
Thanks Greg. Thought about Gnarly Carla while working on this one.
Blackhawk, I learn a little somthin' everytime you post a bow.
Thanks to all!

Red and yellow will kill a fellow, Red and black is a friend of Jack. ;D The wraps look awesome and to me along with the knots make the bow.

Man! Slimbob, this is a far cry from the piece of firewood I saw when you first started on it. I love the way the coral snake wraps came out! Great color combo. I guess you can give away your tools now.
-
Thanks Curt. And yes, I have given away my tools. Well, actually I gave away your tools. Guy should be there with his trailer shortly (had to throw in your torch and welder to seal the deal). $30.00 gas money should get 'im back on the road. :)

Just wanted to to say thanks to everyone for the nice comments. This was a hobby I did in virtual isolation for a lot of years. Really great to get feedback from such a knowledgeable group of people.

That's a very nice bow. That is the style I have come to enjoy hunting with over the last couple of years. I still build different designs, but that's what goes to the woods. Really like it. God Bless
