Here is the fulfillment of a dream I had a couple of years ago. After seeing an elk horn 3 piece bow on PA that James Parker had made the bamboo backed, bamboo bellied limbs for, I started wondering what a riser made of a osage limb would look like.
I wanted it to have the bark left on and really wanted James to build the limbs for it. I found a perfect standing dead limb for the riser and roughed out the general shape and took it to the 2012 Tenn. Classic. I was thrilled to see James Parker with his table of masterpieces. When I approached the table James took an interest in the riser and before long offered to build the limbs for it. BINGO! I tried to act cool, but on the inside I was jumping up and down.
The bow arrived a few days ago and it is everything and more than I could have dreamed. It weighs in at 60lbs. @ 28 in. It is 61 in. ntn. and very fast, even with a heavy arrow. It will be with me in the mountains of Arizona chasing elk this fall.
Thank you again James...you are a master craftsman and a true artist.

Looks awesome man. If only I was the one in the full draw it would be perfect. >:D
-
I love it. Glad it worked out for you. Can't wait to see it next to an Arizona elk.
-
Very cool bow. You went to the right guy to build it for you. James is a master.
-
That is really awesome looking! Way to make that dream come true. Well done.
-
I guess it's Ok.. ;)
-
That thing is epic.
So what are the limbs? 'boo backed and bellied?
That thing looks wayyyy too awesome. is it possible to attach fiberl@$$ limbs to a wood riser and shoot the thing? if so I might do it.
-
That's a very cool bow Lyle. That riser is awesome.
-
Thats a really unique and handsome bow, only bad thing I could say about it is that the arrow shelf is on the wrong side of the bow for my specs. ;D Great idea on the osage w/bark on riser Lyle and good luck on your elk hunt.
-
That is way cool! And a lefty to boot.
-
I usually dont like 3 piece bows, actually never, this is the 1st one I like! it has some great characteristics to it. Congratulations on aa job well done.

Thanks everyone...I hope others will use some natural stock for risers also....I'm thinking wild cherry next?
Gaur...James' bamboo dragons are amazing bows...hope to see yours in a picture with a nice elk.

I'd like that too Lyle. Be nice to see yours on one too. This will be my third bow made by James. A little more R/D on this one in the low to mid 50# range. Looking forward to shooting it when I get to MN in 2 more weeks.
take care,
Randy

I'm not a big fan of 3 piece T/D LBs, but that is gorgeous!! I think I could make an exception for that!!

I really like that riser. Nice bow! Ed

Wow... That is an amazing bow!!!
-
Was thinking....(yeah that happens from time to time ;D )
How have you treated the riser to make sure the bark dont fall of?
As a huntingbow is likely to get at least a little dinged up and that bark is such an integral part of the design.
Would be a shame if it fell off.
-
Very, very, very nice bow there Lyle! I love the way the riser turned out.
-
dbb, it's been almost 2 years and the bark is strong as ever...it's sprayed well and I am definitely careful with knocking it around.
Cody, thanks for the compliment...it means a lot coming from you . I'm waiting to see your next...get busy! lol
