First I measure how wide my splice piece should be.
-
Next I strip a feather the color I want the splice to be.
-
Then place the striped feather on your marks and cut your splice pieces.
-
Choose you feather you want to splice. Measure the distance you want your splice to be and mark it at the back of your feather on your tape.
-
After you have done that I use an exato knife to cut out where my splice feather goes. I lay my blade flat and cut very slow and careful.
-
Next I use a little fletch tight on my splice feather.
-
Insert glued splice piece into feather.
-
Then just trim to feather.
-
I have been using some fletch tape for attaching my feathers.
-
After the tape is applied I make sure I line up where my splice feather is to be placed.
-
After I get it all lined up I pull of the backing of the tape and apply my fletch. This one is the cock feather.
-
Then attach the other feathers and you have a fletched arrow. This is the first time I have tried to do a how to. Hope you understand all this. Hope it will help someone out. Sorry if I posted it all wrong or in the wrong place.

Scottski,
Nice looking feather, Great job, very nice tutorial. You make it look so easy, I've done a few also, didn't turn out as nice as yours the first time , but like any thing else it takes a little time and practice.
Thanks

Been wondering how that was done.
-
Just to be clear, the piece that is spliced in still has the quill attached? You are glueing a small bit of quill on top of quill?
-
Just the skin I strip the feather being used for the splice also.
-
Aaaaah-ha! See the compact flourescent light bulb above my head go on?
-
Lol. (See figure 2) lol!!! ;)

Thanks for posting this. It should help my arrows look not so boring. Now, if I can just keep from losing them... ;)

That's about as simple as it can be explained, and simpler is better.
