Title: Osage bow for a Yooper
Post by: John W. Cooper on July 28, 2013, 04:25:32 pm
I made this Osage Self Bow for a black powder reenactor and his wife up in "Da U.P." of Michigan.  It turned out to be one of those bows that you just hate to part with.  29#@28"; 66 ntn; black buffalo horn tip overlays; leather shelf.  The grip shape and the way the handle turned out are definitely my favorite to date.

The profile is a gentle taper from 1-1/4" at the fades to 1/4" tips

Just 'cuz you're from "oh-HI-ya" doesn't make you worthless.  ;D I don't think I'll be getting to any of the rendezvous this summer between family and work.  I'll make the sacrifice of passing on the hug and well-wishes. ;)  I love making these simple Osage bows.  Thanks for the compliments.

Thanks for all the kind words.  It's really a simple bow compared with some out there, but it's nice to have one of those to practice the finish work.
