Title: Sammy's new sapling bow
Post by: Badly Bent on July 28, 2013, 11:59:40 pm
This ones for daughter #3 (of 4). Last bow I made for her was when she was around 12 yrs. old. She just recently finished college and is ready to shoot some arrows again and asked if I would make her a new bow. She shot it in
the backyard today and it suits her pretty well. She probably hasn't loosed an arrow in about 6 yrs but is planning
on going to the Elm Hall shoot with us and getting back into a little archery. Next weekend is gonna be fun.
The bow is from a buckthorn sapling of about 1 1/2" dia., 52" ntn and around low 30's # at 24" draw.
Finish is rubbed in earth pigments covered in many coats of tru oil.
Thanks for looking.

Thanks for the kind words guys, appreciate it.
Its pretty neat that the girls are coming back to what they used to enjoy when they were younger. This past year saw Sam's two older sisters also rekindled their interest in archery. Makes me pleased to see them having fun with some
arrows again.

Another sweet bow Greg. I've been slowly messing with the buckthorn you gave me. I hope it turns out as nice as thatone did. As far as samantha goes, you can tell she gets her good looks from her mother.  O:) hope to see that bowin person sometime.

Sorry it took me a couple days to reply back and thank you all for the comments;
@ Dave: Good thing she didn't get my looks, then she would be bald with a wrinkled face. ;) Hope that buckthorn works out for you. I've broken four from that batch since I saw ya at the classic.
@ Chris:see ya in Mich. in two days, got a special stave for you.
@ OneBow: Yeah to bad they don't let me pick their Beau's, in the end though they have ended up with good ones

Samantha also says thanks to everyone!

I had clicked on the thread without looking who opened it it and it was obviously one of yours on first sight. The bow I mean. I just like your hand, the style others already mentioned here... I like the dark back (dyed?) with the bright sides on this one, and that it is of appropriate femininity.
And my respect for bringing up 4 daughters (and living with 5 women constantly), I' don't think I'd have the nerve.  ;)
