This owl was road kill.called manitoba conservation and they said it was ok to keep but not eagle feathers.
-
You lucky dog bushy! We cant even look sideways at that stuff, dead or not. I suspect some of your native friends could use it?
-
It was given to me by susan the medicine woman who I made the bow for.my native buddies say that I am more indian than them.lol I am metis though.these owl are the largest in the world with a wing span of 5' and manitoba's provincal bird.
-
Can you fletch arrows with them?
-
Dang! That's incredible!
-
I'm not much of arrow maker ,but I'm gonna try my hand at it.
-
Those would be too cool on hunting arrows man, give it a try. If it was legal Id have you send them to me and I would make some arrows for you. But that cant happen here.
-
Maybe if they were from canada it would ok?would send some for yourself.got a wack of northern hawk owl feathers also.
-
And I could throw in some bear grease also?
-
They'd hang me if I got caught, Federal Offense even. There is no way to prove where they came from, nor would they care! Zero tolerance man.

The Great Grey Owl is a VERY Cool Bird...
I say use them Bushboy.
They don't have to go on Arrahs Alone.
There is BIG medicine associated with the parts and pieces of Owls.
Headdress.
Tomahawk Accents.
Peace pipe Accents.
Walking Staff Accents.
Talking Stick Accents.
The legs could be knife handles for Knapped Blades...
You name it.
Don't send them South of the boarder...
Especially if you care for the recipient.
It would open them up to ALL the WRONG kinds of attention from Federal Fish & Game Authorities and the like.
Its a DAMN Shame.
But its the Law...

Whoah! I look forward to seeing those arrows!
-
Good score.. They are deadly quiet on arrows.. Even when they are fletched like a fluflu it won't slowem down.. Be better off on the walking sticks, quivers and such..
Thanks Leroy

Lucky dog.
I saw a road killed red tail hawk on my way home from work today and could only sigh as drove on past it.
-
That's cool, you're lucky. I think I'd mount the wings spread out so you can see what a magnificent bird it is. The feathers are really too soft for fletchting.
-
Very cool. Like stated already, use them as good medicine. I have a full body mount of a Great Horned Owl in my classroom.
I tell my students there are cameras in the eyes. They usually buy into it because the eyes seem to follow you as you move across the room.

The Great Grey Owl is the largest in the western hemisphere, but Blakiston's Fish owl and the Eurasian Eagle owl both are half again bigger than the largest Greys.
Great Greys nest in the dead of winter, when snow covers their prey base and temps in Canada are at their worst. You gotta give this bird props for sheer toughness.
-
Not to miss inform ,that's how I read it in my search j dub
-
Wonder what it tastes like. I'd go with Eddie, mount the wings, they are kinda soft.
-
Might try some flu flu's.yes they are soft so I think they would work well for the back of a bow.
-
You GOTTA post pics if you do this. You know that, right?
-
Indeed ,j dub.
