Title: How long to wait after steeming?
Post by: Lee Lobbestael on August 24, 2013, 11:50:10 am
Hey guys, How long do you wait for a bow to dry out after steam bending it? I took some natural deflex out of a limb of a almost tillered bow with steam. I hope it stays and I don't want to brace it too soon.

Lee, for what it's worth. Any time I steam bent I just left it till the next day. Don't know for sure if that is right or not, but never had no trouble with doing it that way.

Your correction may not hold at this point Lee. Safe bet is to heat temper that area also. Steaming dries wood out quickly, so like Rich said, about a day..........Art B

One day as well.  Art is right, steaming dries it out, which is counter-intuitive.
