Title: glue for horn nocks
Post by: Gwynnin on August 28, 2013, 01:14:47 pm
What glue do you guys use when fitting your horn nocks to longbows? I just did my first set and used a quick drying epoxy, but I'm not super thrilled with the results and don't like working with epoxy much. Also, any tips on fitting/carving/polishing the buggers?
Thanks!

I've used that 5 min. epoxy before with not too good results.Super glue or a slow curing epoxy is the most durable.Flat rough surfaces that match well are the best. Some guys on here really do more articulate tips.Maybe others could pipe in,or you could do a search maybe. They are kind of a personal touch type thing. To get em nice, round,& bullet shaped I do the old shoe shine method with an emory cloth.

In my opinion, 5 min. epoxy is totally worthless for anything, a good quality super glue gel is the best way to go. On another note, chrome polish works really well on antler.> Dan
