Title: My first selfbow
Post by: Blaflair2 on September 20, 2013, 11:52:35 am
So I'm counting this as my first selfbow because It's the first one I finished. I abandoned my other to build this. It's 61" ntn. Bendy handle Osage orange with Python skins. Moose antler tips are flipped slightly. 57#@30" good shooter. I know the grip sux but it works. Thanks for looking

Very nice.  Better than my first, second and possibly my third bow ;) are those static tips?

Nice job! I like those little yaller bows. Feels like you're carrying a tooth pic. A tooth pic you could slay a dragon with!  ;)

Congrats....I think your nocking point is too low...and it maybe throwing the tiller off...but I think you have too much bend in the bottom fade area right below your hand and not enough further out in the limb....but its not the best pic to judge tiller either...jus saying

Yeah they are static tips. The bow is at a slight angle so it doesn't look perfect. It shoots good. This is my first actual successful bow. So I know the tiller isn't perfect. The stave was real thin and skinny where you are talking. So I did my best. That's good enough for me. Thanks for the critique though. Someday maybe I'll be there with yall.

Thanks
Bruce

Just noticed what I think is heart and sapwood in the second picture.  Nice

Congratulations on your first shooter.  There is nothing quite as rewarding as flinging an arrow from your first bow, huh?  Nice bow.
