Title: Afghanyknapping
Post by: seminolewind on October 01, 2013, 01:53:42 pm
Here are a few pics of us following the river up to Asadabad up from Jalalabad I managed to knock a couple points out that evening. I recently got a small flat rate box in the mail from a facebook buddy and have been carrying a couple spalls with me whenever I leave the FOB. It sure is nice and calms the nerves to be able to sit down and do some chipping...its the best therapy I can imagine over here ! This these were from  novaculite and dacite spalls. It was my first time knapping nova and man I have to say its my favorite material I have worked so far. The flake scars show up really nice and it flakes like a dream ! Hope yall enjoy !

Glad you are able to knap over there and you got a little piece of Arkansas (novaculite) to try out. Be sure and keep those points. One day there will be a museum to tell the story and those points would be a great addition to the collection. It really is amazing - high tech military meets the stone age. Good work. Post something here when you run out of rock.
