Title: Heat treating

when is the best time to heat treat the belly?
ruffed stave? half tillered? finished?


I did a search.  Is there a "How to" on heat treating

I heat treat the rough stave, the low brace, the full brace, and the finished bow in both Black Locust and Vine Maple.

Max, Marc St Louis wrote a chapter in TBBIV on heat treating. Marc popularized this technique with his high performance, highly reflexed, heat treated whitewood selfbows. You'll get lots of good info and techniques from Marc's chapter then you can taylor that to your needs.
