Here's a bow I finished today. This is from a batch of OS that I cut in August and I wanted to experiment on this bow with moisture, backing, stain, etc. before moving on to full size bows.
It might be too heavy for someone small enough to draw this fully at its 20 lbs. @ 16". If I do lighten it I'll loosen those stiff upper limbs.
Its amazing how fast it shoots these 350 grn arrows. So far, no set.
After shooting it I decided to back it with some reptilian print leather that I cut out of a jacket. Kinda cool, I think.

Nice looking bow Steve. I like the pattern on the leather.
How long is this from ttt? I'm trying a small OS bow now, that is 36.5 " I want to see what I can make out of it and then starting on a bigger one also. Thanks for sharing. Ed

42", Ed. I think I could get 20+ inches of draw with little set on this one if I tillered it better, right now, but more draw, for sure, if I reduced the weight.......

Cool little bow, that should make some kid smile. :)

Nice little bow! What diameter was the stave? I'm guessing 1'-1 1/4" on the fat end. I've got a couple of small pieces I might try.

That looks great Steve. The leather is a nice touch

Thanks guys, it was a fun little project.
Don, 7/8". Started out about an inch. Weighed 9 oz. before the leather. It wouldn't take much more bow to kill a deer I think!

Sweet!
What are those safety glasses for...it is ocean spray! ;)

Its my bad tillering that scared me, Carson. :(
Actually I was afraid that the kite string would break and that scale hook would rip my face off. :o

Very nice....like it. Got a piece of eastern red cedar that I'd like to make something like this.
