I started this bow back in September, but put it on hold while I started building a workshop to hold the saws, sanders, bow horse, etc.
When I needed a short bow to hunt out of one of my pop-up blinds I got motivated and did some more work on it.

56", 54" ntn, 50@28 (so far ;) )
Will have to see how she settles in after I finish the break in.

Very cool snakey bow. How does she shoot? Full draw pics? Danny
-
Looks like a fun and challenging piece of wood. That is really short for a stiff handle and a 28" draw.
-
I only shot 3 arrows at full draw, about 20 at 24 inches. They all hit the block target ;D
Will shoot some more tomorrow and see if I can get my daughter to take my picture at full draw.

All those lumps make for a challenging tiller job - nice work.
-
Thats a gnarly looking bow olschool, I like it ;D
-
Whoa!
Must have been fun tillering that!! Nice job.
-

Lot of character in that one - looks good! I've realized that I could use a shorty for huntin , and maybe brush guards too.....
-
Love it,can't wait to see it finished. :)

Thanks guys, It was foggy, cold, and raining when I got home, so only got to burnish the back again and put another coat of tung oil on it. Strung it up and let it sit for awhile to make sure it remembers bending. ;D Hope I can get out and shoot it some more tomorrow and get some pictures of it on the tiller tree.
-
Nice work!! Yep, I love it too.
-

Whoa - looks like your pushin the limits on that sage :o. And by the looks of it, that's got to be hill country TX somewhere?
-
Oh my that osage is some tough stuff. I would never try something like that on the woods that I use. Wow!
-
Very nice. Good looking tiller.
-
Damn! with all those knots and bumps that would be the last thing on my mind after shaving it to have none. Nice job on that one man. :o
-
That is the exact bow I have been wanting to build. 56" 50#@28. What are the other dementions, width etc. The only thing I want differant is to have it left or right handed.
-
Well, this one is a little narrower than I wanted for a short bow. It started out to be 70" and around 65+ lbs, but a check showed up in the upper limb as I was tillering that made me shorten that limb 10". So most of the length it is between 1" and 1.25" across the back, I would rather it be closer to 2", but I already had the width layed out around some bad knots and checks. The limbs are pretty consistant at 1/2" from the grip to the tips. 4" grip inch and a half tapering down to the limbs 1/2" on each side.

Look at that tiller. You nailed it man. Great work. You know, looking at a well tillered bow at full draw length is almost like looking at a pretty girl. Curves are all in the right places.Danny
-
Very nice. You got the most out of that piece of wood
-
That looks good. How much set did it take after that pull,is it still standing pretty straight?
Nice tilled on a challenging piece of wood. :)

It takes about an inch and 3/4 set after shooting, but comes back to straight after setting over night ( so far :) )
