Hello,
I am from IL....no better place in IL than 10 miles from starved rock. I am not an avid woodsmen but I've been heavily interested in persueing it for quite a long time. The only thing stopping me was that for some reason I feel like the only way to do this is as primitive as possible. For all this time I felt as if this was an impossible way to approach it and I let the idea fall to the back of my head. That was until over the summer I met a new friends who shares the same views as me on the subject. Then I found this place. So I'm short.....it feels like everything is coming together.

Thanks for the warm welcomes. Your forum has been a great source of information thus far. I'm searching through previous post about what natural resources as far as wood and stone are available to me in my area and what's useful. The way I see it is if its not practical I'm a real survival scenario then its as good as useless.
Looks like white oak is good enough for a bow and I can get it almost anywhere near me, I'll be hunting for some stone pretty soon. Weather is pretty fridgid these past few days.

Just do your share of chores around here, refill the coffee machine when you pour the last cup, and post pics of your projects.
That's all we ask. ;D
