Both bows are 45" tip to tip. Both are hickory backed with 3 layers of deer sinew. The green Apache replica is less than 1" wide at the handle and 3/4" wide mid limb. It is the narrowest bow I have made. 54# @ 21.5". Sections of wood are cut out on the sides and painted with red ocher. 3 ply sinew string. Arrows are wild rose and phragmities.
The Cheyenne replica has a heavy draw of 76# @ 22.5". The sinew back is painted with red ocher. Thick 3 ply sinew string. The arrows are all dogwood. Most of the feathers are wild turkey. In place of eagle and buzzard I used Canadian goose. Looks close.

Awesome. Some serious bending going on there. Please send me all your arrows--I want them.
-
Steve B, Where do you live? Not sure they will shoot that far
-
More sweet bows, I don't miss your posts because you always really get them bending great

Ya sure ya didnt steal that stuff out of a museum ::)
-
These are sweet. How long would something like this have to be to draw it to 27"?
-
Man you never disappoint Chuck. Historical representations are the coolest.
-
Nothing about that set says 'made in the present day' and tou can't beat that in a replica. love it.
-
Art work my boy! Pure art!
-
Nice! Always enjoy your posts.
-
Your details are always fun to check out. Really nice work.

I would say about 54" safely, with Osage and sinew you could probably get away with slightly shorter but the tiller would have to be really good and it would definitely have to bend in the handle. That would certainly be outside my ability to create.

Impressive and educational. I had to look up phragmities.
-
Very nice work. You did a great job of getting an authentic look. Looks like you heisted them from the museum. Great tiller too. :)
-
Very nice sets! I love the accuracy of your replicas.
-
Cool bows Chuck, very cool.

Like a lot of people said looks like there out of a museum. 8)

Beautiful! Excellent work.
Both bows and arrows look very good, and the bend on the bows is great.
-
Beautiful! bows - Lots of power in a small package!
-
Rock on!!!! Looks real good the lot does!
-
Awesome work Chuck, it's all been said so +1 everybody
-
My kind of bows. Love 'em! The arrows are perfect. Nice job Chuck!
-
Awesome work Chuck! You never disappoint! I've harvested quite a bit of phragmites in your area. Josh
-
Thanks everybody. Prig, I agree. Some constructive criticism would be okay for a change. Where is Ryoon when you need him. Josh, hope you cut a lot. I cull out lots of weak and imperfect phragmities to find a good shaft. It's no river cane.
-
Those are sweeeet! When I first saw the pic I thought...."did you make those? or are those pics from a museum?" Seriously. Awesome.
-
Great looking sets! Both came out vey nice. Curtis
-
Always a joy watching your stuff!
-
Is the top limb of the grey one in the top pic a tad stiff in the mid/outer?
-
Good eye Peacebow. Flip the pic upside-down and you are still right. I say close enough- but not perfect
-
It's all been said already chuck but still can't help to express myself -sweet sets, both are museum quality replicas bro. Great job!
