I think Pip uses a spokeshave at that point

I have a couple of these but don't use them much for bows- they work OK on straight grained wood, but can cause "tear outs" on tricky grain. If you do get one make sure it has a curved sole (curved front-to-back like a ski tip). Because of potential tear outs they are not good for tillering. IMO a good rasp and a real cabinet scraper are much better for minor wood removal.

Could also be a scraper holder like the Veritas model that Lee Valley sells.

My guess would be scraper as well.

His hands were moving so fast I thought for a moment that it was Blackhawk cranking out one of his 30 minute Saturday Nite Specials!

Wow, that veritas scraper holder is cool, you can put a bend in the scraper and everything, pretty cool. Veritas makes so many cool things.
