Whats everyone using to put thier sinew on with these days. I have seen some bows with the sinew come off in big layer with the knox stuff. I have never used TB3 for sinew. But figure that would take out the springiness
Ever since Pat had issues I have been hesitate to use hide glue.

i didnt have any issues using knox.

I don't know what issue Pat had, but people have been applying sinew to bows with hide glue for thousands of years.

I've had good results with knox also. I did have one backing come loose but that was my fault. I used a lot of oil for heat bending and didn't get it cleaned off enough. I have been making my own glue with sinew scraps for the last couple of years.

Hide glue and TB3 both work fine for me

I used Knox and it worked out great.

The issues I had with sinew lifting off the limb were due to improper surface prep. I've done 2 sinew bows since then using hide glue on both and both are doing fine.
My new prep method is to degrease by scrubbing with Dawn dish soap and rinse with boiling water just before adding the sizing and then the sinew. The hot water and soap "wets" the wood so it absorbs the glue into the wood and not just on the surface.

Thanks Pat. I will keep that in mind.
