Title: Joining wood pieces

What is the easiest way to join 2 pieces of wood for making  arrows.  I have a few short chunks of Douglas fir but not long enough for arrows.

use glue  ;D >:D


footing the shaft is good way to lengthen a shaft

john strunk showed me how to do it with a hand plane. flattened 2 sides of the shaft and then took a wedged piece of wood and slid it on. round it up and your good to go :)

Aye it's as easy as that.  ;) ;) ;)
You can make footed shafts with nothing more than a fine saw, plane, rasp and sandpaper.
As for joining stock - don't bother.

Thanks cone,  do you have alrger photo, just hard to make it out.  so what you are doing tapering both pieces with the hand plane..?

If you have a finger joint machine its easy....... :P
