I finished up the 52" Osage bendy handle bow from the follow-a-long http://www.primitivearcher.com/smf/index.php/topic,44744.0.html
This bow started as a thin belly split that I popped off the bottom of a stave from the big tree I cut in 2011. It ended up being 45 lbs @ 24". The limbs are 1 3/8" wide. The backing is cotton rattler. The tip overlays are from old persimmon golf club heads. The string is 10 strands of FF/D97 with some extra strands in the loops. I finished the bow with 6 coats of tung oil. There is nobody here to take a full draw picture. I'll try to get one up later today.

Thanks guys. My photographer should be home from school in a little while. I'll get a full draw pic up soon. I'm happy with the skins. They look good in person. I showed the bow to my Dad and he asked what kind of snake it was. He didn't know they weren't real until I handed it to him.

cool, sounds like a viable option if you are out of skins, I've seen those while waiting on my wife at the fabric store
-
Really nice... 8) Excellent work
Don
-
I guess its OK ::)
-
That turned out nice! The skin looks better than most I've seen.
-
nice, you did an awsome job on that one
-
Finished up Sweeeeet Clint, very nice bow. I'm liking those deadly looking cotton rattler skins too.
-
8) Bow .........Really like the tips, they will really pop when the osage ages a bit. I've got to start doing more of that, looking at the wood contrast down the road. again nice bow.

What in the world happened to your shorts? :o. Did they get longer or did your legs get even shorter? >:D. Josh
BTW....nice tiller ol buddy!
-
I hope they aren't getting any shorter Josh. I was doing some work outside and needed long britches. A dead red oak fell across the road and I had to cut it up and move it. Running a chainsaw in shorts makes your shoes fill up with wood chips.
-
Awesome little bow there Clint! That full draw is spot on :)
-
I got some of that cotton rattler from Clint's dealer and it is great! Several orders of magnitude better than the stuff thru other sources. Like someone else said, it's great if you don't have real skins available.
Clint, you really did it proud with this one. You left it all on the field, as they say. Amazing little weapon there!
-
Now that is a beautiful bend
-
Very nice bow Clint! Lots of bend there. Those skins are unique and stand out. Is that the same thing as a water moccasin?
Cipriano
-
Cipriano, its cotton fabric with a snake pattern on it ;D
I just finished up a handle wrap on another bow. I'll post it tomorrow.
-
Great work Clint! That turned out very nice all around!

That is a sweet lil thumper! Those are some skinny tips or those were big golf club tees!
-
