Title: English Longbow construction advice.
Post by: autologus on March 05, 2014, 01:17:44 pm
I am going to attempt an English Longbow, so far I have a 72" 1.5"x.75" white oak plank with a 3/16" Ash backing glued up.  What I would like is to have it be about 50# at 28".  What do you all think the dimensions for the bow should be to be in the ball park?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

feel like I might have toasted the belly a bit before laminating, but it should still work.

White oak and ash are both tension strong woods, ideal as backings. Do you have access to any compression strong woods?
