Sweeeeeet ;D. I wanna learn how to do that :)!

yeah they are nice and i want to learn to do that too.

if your gonna take it up start with obsidian, dacite or a good heat treated flint. obsidian is the easiest but be ready to bleed. i think my favorite teaching/learning stone is dacite. you can get it relatively cheap, works similar to obsidian and it doesnt cut ya up as much as obsidian. if you dont want to spend the money find bottles with flat bottoms or sides, even plate glass. wear gloves and eye protection and work in a well ventilated area. those little chips get everywhere, hence the bleeding. get ready to cuss a lot and break a bunch of rock ;D theres a fella on youtube that has some excellent vids that will help ya out a lot. just type in "flintknapping tips". thers many others that show great work but he's my favorite

Cool points. I hope to be able to do that kind of work someday. Cowboy sent me a box of Georgetown flint that I gotta get heat treated. I pecked around on it when I first got it, but just made smaller rocks. Can't wait to get started in earnest. I got a knapping DVD for Christmas and a book from Horsefeathers, but still don't have all the right tools. Sand stone is easy to find here, but hammer stones are a little harder to come by. Little copper caps for little nibbling billets are easy to find at Home Depot and Lowe's, but the big copper caps are harder to find.
Any suggestions? I've got some antler, but nothing very big.

otoe try a landscape supplier . usually will have different stones that would work for hammerstones. check the creeks near ya too, its the best place to find hammerstones. if there is a native ameican museum near ya . visit it and see what the locals used. peace
my best antler billet is missing i left it on the porch and i think the dog next door walked off with it. :'(

Good looking points, Jamie. That Texas looks like some tough stuff. Oughta be able to shoot them through about anything. Eddie, wool socks don't work with them flip-flops. :)
