Title: my offering in the bow trade
Post by: bubby on April 29, 2014, 05:09:33 pm
like it said here it is 61 1/4" ntn 51# @ 27",belly split off an osage stave I got in a trade with Dean Marlow, thanks man it's a great stave, has a little funky character was deflexed on one side reflexed on the other right at the handle, I ended up heat treating the belly and removed most of that at the same time(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/my%20horn%20bow/trade%202014/101_4511_zps804c011c.jpg) (http://s623.photobucket.com/user/bubncheryl/media/my%20horn%20bow/trade%202014/101_4511_zps804c011c.jpg.html)

I also did a racket style grip for the first time using Timo's build a long, have wanted to try this grip for some time I sure like the way it feels in the hand

Looks real nice bubster, you worked those character issues out just fine. I like all the profiles, the bend, and the good looking handle work too. Whoever gets that will be set for hunting season and will no doubt be thrilled with the bow.

thank you simson, and you are correct it is pretty fast I kind of wondered the effect of the added mass around the knothole but I haven't noticed anything

I did a racket style grip on one bow, good stuff. Very comfortable.   :)   You can find old rackets at the thrift shops for pennies.

I didn't use a racket grip 101, I cut a strip of leather, tapered the ends to fit and then beveled all the edges
