Post by: cailean on June 28, 2014, 03:31:23 pm
Hi Folks... Can someone give me a good durable easy finish for the rawhide on the back of a bow the won't de-laminate it...i put it on damp with TB3.

I like any wipe on oil finishes myself. Tung oil and Tru oil both work well. They soak into the rawhide/wood, so no peeling will happen.

I use Tru-Oil on all bows, all backings.

I use tung oil and then paste wax over that, you can dress the rawhide up before you seal it(http://i623.photobucket.com/albums/tt320/bubncheryl/Cubs%20Football/buckthorn/101_4468_zps8a19071a.jpg) (http://s623.photobucket.com/user/bubncheryl/media/Cubs%20Football/buckthorn/101_4468_zps8a19071a.jpg.html)

Another vote for tru-oil.  But tung oil or a wipe on poly would work too.
