Title: 80# @28", 51"ntn
Post by: Blaflair2 on July 03, 2014, 11:05:20 am
So this is the first bow I ever started. Got to thinking about trying to finish it. It pulls 80# @28". Way before I had a scale or any idea about what exactly I was doing. On limb was a little reflexed and one deflexed. I didn't touch it. I think the tiller looks decent . I forgot the pic of it unbraced. I'll try and post it later. I've shot it quite a bit. I know I know it's a poor design and never shoulda been pulled that far. I know that now. It's rips an arrow though >:D about the 3 times I can pull it back.  I wanna drop it to about 60#. It got in my mind again with the big 100 flat bow debacle.

It was osage that I got from a guy at work. He had trees cut and milled. It's been in a barn for 10-15 years before I got it...

I used a razor blade as a scraper.  ??? Like I said, before I knew what I was doing

My tiller could use some work. Like I said I really had no clue what I was doing. Kinda winging it.

Even a blind gopher finds a hole eventually. I wish I could still tiller like that! Lol. I got lucky. Didn't know theoretically it shouldn't work. I attribute the wood. Nice stuff. Wish I had more

I don't have a chrono, I'm 6'4" del. it's 28 lol. It smokes an arrow though. It should still one I lighten it. The knot has a small crack. Been there since the beginning. I'll probly wrap it for safety sakes once I lose the weight. It would be kool to check it on a chrono now. I've lobbed a few arrows in my yard with my other bows. Learned not to try it with this, I'm pretty sure I hit the corn field on the other side of the woods.  O:)

That full draw pic looks awesome. I doubt I could even brace an 80# bow.

Tiller looks pretty good while your drawing it, not as good on the tree, and that is a lot of draw length from such a short bow.

I'm not expecting it to last probly. Just figured I'd pick it up and see what it weighed. I'm kinda amazed

Scary stuff, the bow, the britches, all of it. ;)  Me, I'm to much of a coward to a 51" bow of any weight to 28".
And also afraid if I wore my britches that low my mom would tan my hide. ;D
Seriously though you pulled off a tough one on that bow, I have to admire that kinda skill.
