Title: Saxton/Young style broad head decision
Post by: Prarie Bowyer on July 05, 2014, 04:38:01 pm
I'm working on a set of the barbed broad heads as describbed in the book "hunting the wooden bow".

He talks about using 3/8" dowels and 3/8" tubing.

I'm using 5/16" dowels but the question is do I follow the model and use 5/16 od tubing then make a dowel tip resizing tool to recieve the 1" collar of the tubing or go with 3/8" bored to fit 5/15".  The latter will be slightly heavier BUT I'll be able to just slide it over the dowels.

What do you guys think?

I can't answer your question, but check your local game laws. Barbed heads are not legal in all states
