Title: White Oak Lever Bow
Post by: DavidV on July 19, 2014, 09:15:08 pm
This is the white oak board I ended up backing. 66" ntn, 2" wide, 43# @28"
Bone tip overlays and maple handle.

Brown paper bag backing but glued on with smooth-on because I was out of glue. It's incredibly ugly. I'm 99% sure it's white oak, being sold as such. The tung oil definately changed the color though.

Yeah! I may hunt with it if I can tune some arrows for it. Del, the levers are a bit wide at a little less than half an inch. Shoots fine but I may thin them some more.

Thanks Crogacht, they said the same thing over on Reddit :)

Nice bow David!
I really like white oak. Most of my bow are white oak.
Tell me, did it take a lot of set?

Not as much as I thought it would for not heat treating it, maybe 2 inches right after shooting, settling pretty straight though. This was slower growth stuff though and not as dense.
