Title: Weekend Walnut Bow
Post by: hammertime on July 29, 2014, 08:57:11 pm
Hello all..normally it takes me 3 to 4 months to finish a bow but this walnut came together in a couple of weekends..48@26" packs a good punch and is a ton of fun to shoot!Has a branch to add some character..but my favorite is the heartwood color.I know some ? walnut as bow wood but I never have had any negative results.Teak oil finish-Thanks for looking-Hammertime(http://i1221.photobucket.com/albums/dd464/jeffreyakolste/2e09670a-2ec7-45bc-b38f-0bdca7978915_zpsd717db55.jpg?t=1406596253)

I like it Hammer. I've made a handful of walnut bows in the past and have some staves of it in the shop now waiting their turn, I'm now inspired to get after them sooner than later. Nice work on yours, it has a unique beauty to it.

I love it when they come together shortly, because they rarely do for me!  Looks like a pretty wood, and that's one heck of a limb on your bottom limb

I dig that funny stick just cut off.  I like that bow.  I'm putting the finishing touches on a fix with som walnut at the handle.  I love the smell of walnut when it's being worked.  Great work on that thing.
